ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals put their leading home run hitter, Brandon Moss, on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday due to a sprained left ankle.Moss jammed his foot while running the bases Monday night. He stayed in the game but woke up with soreness in the ankle Tuesday. Moss then had X-rays and consulted a foot specialist, who diagnosed him with a Grade 1 sprain. The team called up Randal Grichuk from Triple-A Memphis to take Moss spot on the 25-man roster.I think the likelihood of him being back before the All-Star break was questionable, and we certainly didnt want to play short the rest of the way, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said. The team has been playing Kolten Wong and Tommy Pham in center field lately, but they remain hopeful Grichuk can regain his form in 2015, when he posted an .877 OPS in 103 games.
